Judgment Day 20083
Judgment Day 2008

Cena/JBL- **
Miz, Morrison/Kane, Punk- **1/2
Shawn Michaels/Jericho ****
Mickie/Beth/Melina **1/4
Undertaker/Edge- ***1/2
Hardy/MVP- **
Triple H/Orton- **3/4

Not great at all. Michaels/Jericho was fantastic tho.

should have been better2
Judgement day followed hot on the heels of backlash and was a continuation of alot of the feuds that we saw at wrestlemania and backlash and there is no problem with that as long as the matches retain a certain level of quality.
The event opened with a match that looked perfect for an opener on paper,JBL went up against john cena in a feud that was boiling over, this was a brawl in truth but seemed to go on alot longer than the 15 minutes allocated to it.That is not a good thing,i liked shades of this match but it went on a bit and it was far too scrappy so i was certainly disappointed.
The WWE tag team championships were up next as the champs john morrison and the miz went up the ECW champion, kane and CM punk. This was an impressive match that was filled with good moves and fought at a good pace, they werent given much time but they slayed what they had and produced a captivating match.
Next up was a match that had been on the cards for a while prior to this,it involved shawn michaels and chris jericho. The two men failed to replicate their classic matches here ,i had to mention that first of all so i apologise, but they did have a good match. It went one way then the other with skills that few can master. It had some good points but died a bit at times, michaels feigning an injury on the build up was good and the two men shook hands at the end which i always like to see.
A triple threat match took place next as the champ mickie james went up against beth and melina, this wasnt a bad match in truth,i actually enjoyed it,beth putting melina and mickie on her back for double backbreaker was something that i wont forget in a hurry, not bad.
The vacant world heavyweight title was up next and featured the undertaker vs edge (their third pay per view in a row and far from their last). This match was the worst of the three but did feature some great moves and the undertaker returned to a more old school taker here, the ending annoyed the crowd and myself and this will do the same with you but a solid enough match was viewed here.
Jeff hardy fought MVP next in what appeared to be an unscheduled match,it was a good match though, these two men fight at next weeks summerslam and much is expected but i imagine the blueprint for this encounter will follow them,a good match.
The main event was up next, the WWE champion triple H going up against randy orton in a steel cage, this match came with plenty of hype and much was expected and i do mean much, this expectation was sadly not realised as this match didnt flow like it should and as main events go was actually poor in segments. The last few minutes were high in quality and the match redeemed itself slightly in that regard but it was almost too little too late, not the match i had hoped for,2.5 stars out of 5 is the suitable score for this event.

WWE Judgment Day 20084
Pleasant and entertaining product. A precious addition to your collection, no doubt about it. The main-events are rematches from Wrestlemania or Backlash. But, still, there's not much of a repetition. However, Orton vs. Triple H in the Cage Match is not the best I've seen. Nice to see Trips as the WWE Championship, though. Cena vs. JBL is a disappointment. HBK vs. Y2J was the highlight of the match. Definitely.

An amusing hour3
An amusing viewing but don't take it too seriously. He appears to be a self taught mechanic. You will learn little or nothing about how to rebuild a bike and at least one of the things he does is potentially dangerous (frame bolts fitted the wrong way round i.e. nuts to the inside so not apparent if they have loosened and dropped off).

I enjoyed it and actually watched it twice, more because I liked looking at the bike though than for his humour! I would recommend it to a friend.

JD 20073
After watching this PPV a few days ago, I would have to say that it weren't the best PPV of 2007 and I am going to regard it as the worst Judgement Day of them all, but will still keep in my WWE collection. Their were a vast amount of matches that could have been better starting with the 3 on 1 handicap match for the ECW title which didn't even last a minute but the winner got screwed at the end. We then had a match for the World Heavyweight Title which was a worthy and decent enough match but the match that Edge and Batista have at Extreme Rules 2007 is way better. The main event between Khali and Cena was alright except the match weren't really long and could have gone on a little longer but was glad to see Cena walk out of Judgement Day 2007 still the WWE champ. The one thing that did annoy me was the vicious attack that HBK took from a tense Randy Orton who already gave HBK a punt to the head prior to this PPV, really HBK should have stayed away if he weren't 100%. Overall I am going to give this PPV a *** and I would say that if your planning on getting this PPV, expecting something good, then sadly your not going to be thrilled at all.

great dvd5
Arrived quickly, excellent condition and my son has watched it about 30 times already. great purchase and quick delivery., no problems at all.

oh dear2
Judgement day 2007 came three weeks after backlash so with that in mind, storylines couldnt quite be forged so alot of what happened here was as a result of what happened at backlash and some matches followed a similar flow as backlash, and while backlash 2007 was a very good event i found this to be average and chasing shadows as far as maintaining a consistent quality.
First up,we had ric flair going up against carlito, this match seemed to last an age and was actually very repetitive and that isnt on,i felt like i was stuck in a deju vu mode for the 15 minutes or so and wasnt impressed, the ending was ok but by then i had lost interest,i hate to say that but its true.
A three on one handicap match was up next, the ECW champion, vincent kennedy mcmahon with shane and umaga went up against lashley,a match we had at backlash, but this match was rotten, lasted a minute and wasnt worthy of the hype, the aftermath of the win was good but unacceptable as a whole,it hurt me.
CM punk went toe to toe with elijah burke next and this match seemed to last a week,it went on and on and on until the crowd started to feel a bit sick of it,i was glad of an ending and while both men impressed in share here and there,i thought this was too long.
Shawn michaels went up against randy orton next in a clumsy and jaded match that suffered as hbk was meant to have concussion, and he played on it,och,he oversold it but made a good fist at convicing us,going for sweet chin music and then falling over like a bag of spuds, you could believe and yet not,the match suffered in all of this and in the end thats all that really matters.
The WWE tag team championship was up next, the champs, the hardys going up against lance cade and trevor murdoch, this match was an almost replica of their match at backlash and this isnt a complaint but they could have thought this through a bit perhaps, nonetheless this was again watchable.
The world heavyweight title was up next, edge went up against batista, much was made of this but i didnt view this as a classic at all,the ending was weak enough and while it didnt last long and wasnt overly boring, something was missing, not a classic then.
A two out of three falls match was up next, the united states championship was on the line here, chris benoit defended it against MVP.This wasnt the final pay per view that benoit appeared in before his death,he popped up as a lumberjack at one night stand, but here he was not at the races, looking moody and unwilling he was very poor,MVP gave his all and again impressed but at times it looked like he was up against a truck that wouldnt give anything and was bored with it all, with all that in mind, this wasnt a pleasure to watch,a sad way to say goodbye to benoit in his last proper pay per view match.
The main event was next and the WWE title was at stake, the champ john cena went up against the great khali, and this was a good match,i would agree that khali had his first great match here and these two men shared the stage several more times that year and worked well together, not a world class main event but a good even match with a good ending,as pay per views go this doesnt reign supreme and that hurts,2 stars.

Do King's of the ring stand the test of time?4
In my opinion, this "tagged classic" of the inaugral wwe king of the ring in 1993 and it's successor in 1994 should definatly be in the collection of any die hard wrestling fan. The "king of the ring" tournament hasn't been around in the wwe for a few years now, but when it was around, it was used by several superstars as a springboard to greatness in the wwe. previous winners over the years include "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Triple H and Kurt Angle to name a few, and of course the 1st two winners of these king of the rings are on this dvd!

The format of the king of the ring is an 8 man single elimination tournament all taking place on the one night, with a superstar potentially having to compete 3 times in one evening.
in 1993 it was:
Bret "Hitman" Hart
Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall
Mr.Perfect Curt Hennig
Mr. Hughes
Hacksaw Jim Duggan
Bam Bam Bigelow
Tatanka and Lex Luger.

Without spoiling the results of the event, this pay per view is one of the best performances of Bret Hart's career, and includes a wrestling clinic between The Hitman and Mr.Perfect, in a rematch from their classic at 'summerslam 91'. It also includes Hulk Hogans' last ppv in the WWE before he left to join WCW, as he defended the WWE title against (the late) Yokosuna, as well as Shawn Michaels against Crush for the Intercontinental title, and an 8 man tag between the Smoking Gunns & the Steiner Brothers against Money inc & the Headshrinkers.

The 1994 event had a similar format, with:
I.R.S
Mabel (now known in the WWE as Viscera)
Scott "Razor Ramon" Hall
Bam Bam Bigelow
Jeff Jarrett
123 Kid (or 'X-pac' Sean Waltman)
Owen Hart and
Tatanka, in the king of the ring tournament. The event also includes:

Bret Hart vs Kevin "Diesel" Nash,(In arguably one of Diesel's rare great matches)

Hall of famer 'Rowdy' Roddy Piper vs Jerry 'The King' Lawler

and The Headshrinkers vs Crush and Yokosuna for the Tag titles

As is often the case at Wrestling pay per view's, the event is let down a little by some of the matches on the card. in this case, some of the tournament matches and so called "Filler" matches on both events don't quite stand the test of time when you compare them to the athletisism of some of todays WWE matches. However, there are enough great matches on the DVD to just skip through and watch those! If you're a Bret hart fan like myself, this is him at perhaps his best, and there is also the opportunity on this DVD to see some of todays Superstars in the early days of their careers, and a chance to see some wrestlers that have since passed away, such as Curt hennig, Yokosuna and Owen Hart, in some of their best matches.
in closing, it's WWE before it was World Wrestling "entertainment", Before the era of wwf "Attitude", but after the old school 80's days. well worth a watch to see one of the 1st times WWE/F went into transition. 4 out of five, due to some of the matches not being great, but both shows have some great matches and some famous wwe moments.

The 2 Best King of the Rings on offer4
The 1993 King of the Ring was the beginning of an annual Pay Per View event that ran all the way until 2002. The 8 man single elimination tournament features Bret Hart vs Razor Ramon, Mr Perfect vs Mr Hughes, Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka vs Lex Luger. Hart, Ramon, Perfect, Bigelow and even to a lesser degree, Tatanka and Luger all perform on top of there game. The winner is somewhat predictable, after you see who wins one of the semi-final matches - but it's argueably the best King of the Ring tournament ever. Also on the card - Hulk Hogan defends the WWE Championship against 500 pound+ Yokozuna in a disappointing match. Shawn Michaels defends the Intercontinental Title against Crush in a match that you'll forget instantly (no fault of Michaels though) and in an 8 man tag team match - The Steiner Brothers & The Smoking Gunns face Money Inc & The Headshrinkers - in what is a waste of time card filler.

A year on and the same format in 1994. The WWE title match is fantastic. Not only does Diesel give a career best performance against Bret Hart, the outside action between corner-men Shawn Michaels and Jim Neidhart is equally entertaining. The 8 man single elimination format is still in place - but is ok at best. Razor Ramon vs Bam Bam Bigelow, Mabel vs I.R.S., 1-2-3-Kid vs Jeff Jarrett are average matches but Tatanka vs Owen Hart is a really good fast pace match. The winner isn't as predictable as the year before and there's a nice twist/heel turn throughout the proceedings.

Buy them both and enjoy. After 1993/1994 the King of the Ring tournaments are never as good.

Kings of Hart4
King of the Ring 1993

In 1993 the WWF finally brought its annual King of the Ring tournament (the first of which was held in 1985) to pay-per-view. The concept was an 8-man single elimination tournament where the winner would be crowned the WWF King of the Ring. The cool thing about the KOTR is that it differed from the regular cards and that each match meant something, the drawback was that most of the matches had to be kept short in order to fit them all in a 3 hour time slot. The Quarter Finals of the 1993 tournament featured one good match between Bret Hart and Razor Ramon, one average match between Tatanka and Lex Luger, and two poor ones as Bam Bam Bigelow fought Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Mr. Perfect battled the awful Mr. Hughes. Fortunately the semi final clash that followed between Bret Hart and Mr. Perfect was a classic, and although not quite on a par with their Summerslam '91 match it still took match of the night honours here. Next up Hulk Hogan made his final WWF appearance for what would turn out to be almost nine years as he lost the WWF Championship to Yokozuna is a poor match. Shawn Michaels' Intercontinental Title defence against Crush wasn't much better and the 8-man tag team match was pure filler. So it was left to Bret Hart to save the day as he battled Bam Bam Bigelow in a very good tournament final before taking a painful beating at the hands of Jerry Lawler to set up a memorable feud between the two.

King of the Ring 1994

The second King of the Ring pay-per-view took place in Baltimore and was notable for the absence of Vince McMahon on commentary as he was facing a trial on steroid distribution charges at the time. Gorilla Monsoon and Randy Savage took over announce duties and were joined (for some reason) by former NFL star Art Donovan, who was absolutely terrible. Donovan's commentary aside, this was a fairly decent show. The first round of the tournament saw one very good bout between Owen Hart and Tatanka, two good ones (Razor Ramon vs Bam Bam Bigelow and Jeff Jarrett vs 1-2-3 Kid) and one rotten one between IRS and Mabel. Next up was the excellent WWF Championship match between Bret Hart and Diesel, which was up at least a few matches too early, and it turned out to be one of Kevin Nash's best matches of his career. Jim Neidhart and Shawn Michaels also played entertaining roles at ringside during the bout. Back to the tournament and Razor Ramon got by IRS in a nothing match while Owen Hart and the 1-2-3 Kid had a very good, although short match-up which set up a Ramon/Hart final. Then the Headshrinkers defended the Tag Team Championship against Yokozuna and Crush in a forgettable encounter before Owen Hart defeated Ramon in a fair bout to win the King of the Ring as Jim Neidhart completed his heel turn. Finally Rowdy Roddy Piper returned for a one-off match-up with Jerry Lawler but unfortunately the verbal exchanges in the weeks leading up to the bout proved to be the most entertaining part of this mini-feud.

chill out surf album4
great album, set me off on to other artists. all just chilled jazzy grooves basically, its similar to the soundtrack for jacks' film "september sessions". i'd say get it if you enjoy laid back easy listening stuff by Jack, G. love or reggae inspired stuff like finley quay.

solid j.j. soundtrack3
After loving Jack Johnsons 'Brushfire Fairytales' and 'On and On', I was keen to explore his work further by buying this- the soundtrack to Johnson's film of the same name. While it's a pretty solid CD with some decent Jack tracks, it doesn't compare with either of his studio albums. It's still better than the majority of soundtracks around, but I'd recommend it for the JJ hardcore only. Perhaps one of his studio albums would be a better place to start your collection?!
Anyway- still a relaxing collection of tunes worth a listen and with worthy G Love offerings to complement more of the same from Jack Johnson.

Not as good as Jacks other stuff2
It has been said in most of the other reviews but im gonna get my say too!

Stick with 'bushfire fairytales', 'inbetween dreams' and 'on and on'. They are all great. Unfortunately Jack was way ahead of the other artists on this album.

extremely useful - a must have5
The DVD takes you through typical grading scenarios from 9th to 1st Kyu. Most impressive of all is the section on the Katas - each Kata can be viewed to count (i.e. one count one move) or at normal speed, and for both speeds there are multiple camera angles. For the Katas alone, this DVD is worthwhile. The camerawork is clear and the navigation system is very useable. This is the 4th DVD/video I've purchased on Shotokan Karate, and it is by far the most useful. If you are beginner to intermediate, this DVD is for you.

Comprehensive Guide to Karate5
Have watched this DVD over and over since purchasing it. The camera angles are excellent with the full options of seeing the Katas performed at many different angles. Having trained for a while now this DVD has helped guide me in the right direction and help polish up my skills. My youn son also enjoys watching this which shows how well put together this is. The practitioners who star are very well skilled and it is also interesting to see the sparring action that takes place by ways of set pieces.

invaluable for clarifying moves4
i often miss the moves we learn in the dojo and when i started karate (almost a yr ago) the katas were a mystery to me, i couldnt figure out where everyone was going! this dvd has many different views in the kata section including an invaluable and clarifying floorplan view, AHA! THATS where i am supposed to go!
on the downside i have to agree with a previous reviewer on the picture quality. i am now working towards higher grades whereby the katas are a collection of more complex moves and i find that even slowing the dvd down doesnt help too much as there is quite a lot of blur.
but, i am using this as a resource to supplement my dojo training, as it was probably intended and am finding it useful if not for learning some moves from scratch, then for reinforcing what i have been taught in the dojo.

If you ride a bike then this is for you!4
The filming of the riding instruction bits is pretty good there are no sound problems and the video quality is good. As for the acctual instruction, it's all sound advice and is clearly and simply explained. The bit about fixing your bike is, in a word 'budget'. The sound isn't very good and the lighting leaves a bit to be desired. But again the content is good. There are some good riding sections thoughout that break up the film a bit and help it avoid feeling like a school video. The riding technique is very much aimed at freeride and downhill skills with some jumping, but having said that there is plenty to learn in there for XC and trails riders like cornering and speed hops, and obviously the workshop section applys to all bikes.
If you ride mountain bikes then this is certain to help your riding and maintanence skills, so is well worth the money.

worthwhile viewing4
Some good video sections and tips and the workshop section is useful viewing to watch someone else before attempting it yourself
