This was a present3
This DVD set was purchased as a present for my 86 year old father-in-law. He has told that while he has enjoyed it, he found from the labelling that there were two copies of one DVD and a missing DVD. However, this was not the case: one DVD had been mislabelled.

Chelsea FC - Season Review 2005/2006 [DVD]

Chelsea FC - Season Review 2005/2006 [DVD]

This programme features coverage of Chelsea FC's 2005/2006 season, with match highlights, interviews and expert analysis.

The Power & The Glory5
Obviously its only going to be Chelsea fans who will want this (so my friend Teresa Lambkin won't want a copy) as the DVD celebrates the year that we retained the Premiership.

As documentary evidence this disc at last shows Chelsea to be the major football force that we've always wanted them to be.

With the backbone of Cech, Terry, Makalele & Lampard and surrounded by players of skill & flair like Joey Cole, Duff & Robben this Chelsea side make and break records on a scale rarely seen before.

This DVD chronicles the season showing all the goals and all the many highlights.

Indispensable (unless you support Tottenham then you'd probably rather ignore this)!

WWE - Shawn Michaels Story - Heartbreak and Triumph [DVD]

WWE - Shawn Michaels Story - Heartbreak and Triumph [DVD]

A retrospective of legendary wrestler Shawn Michael's career.

The perfect compliment to From The Vault5
From The Vault: Shawn Michaels was simply one of the most outstanding DVDs that WWE had ever released. Chronicling five of the Heartbreak Kid's greatest matches, featuring exclusive interviews with the man himself, with so many extra segments, pay-per-view vignettes, a smattering of Shawn's childhood and beginnings from `Before They Were Superstars' among other real gems, you had one of the best wrestling releases ever.

Five years later, one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) of all time is honoured yet again. This time with a 3-Disc set that is a proper biography and look back on Michaels' career. And before you ask `is this on a par with From the Vault?', I will answer with a definitive `yes'.

Heartbreak and Triumph is yet another high-quality life-story. It's very similar to the stories of Eddie Guerrero and Bret Hart, in that it's a tale that's full of struggle, unforgettable career moments, hard times, honesty, complicated issues and light at the end of the tunnel. So you have the basic ingredients for a really captivating tale. And the fact that the centre of it all is one of the most phenomenal (and controversial) stars in wrestling's history...can only add more fuel to the fire.

They're some absolutely great highlights throughout the main program. These consist of Shawn's beginnings, the formation of the Midnight Rockers with Marty Jannetty, his Intercontinental Championship reigns, the Boyhood Dream that lead him to the WWE title, the formation of the Clique and D-Generation X, and of course, being the pioneer of the Ladder Match and Hell in a Cell. But the moments that stand out above everything else are Shawn's struggles throughout his career and in real life.

This documentary doesn't pull that many punches regarding certain things. It's no secret that Shawn's reputation was once that of an arrogant individual, so none of the interviewees bother to hide that. His struggles as WWE Champion in 1996 during WCW's dominance, the reputation of the Clique and very controversial curtain call, his drug problems, real-life hospitalization, D-X breaking all kinds of taboos and intense animosity with Bret Hart all remind us what HBK was truly like behind-the-scenes.

And then of course, there's the Montreal Screwjob from Survivor Series 1997. After watching the Bret Hart story so many times, it's very interesting for Shawn to give his side of the story. I completely understand Shawn's reasons (and Vince and Triple H's for that matter) why he did what he did. And on one level, I do agree with them. But what I don't agree with, is how they all overlook the exact details of Bret's leaving, his loyalty to the company and his reasons for not wanting to drop the belt to HBK. I also dislike how Triple H and Gerald Brisco try and make out that Bret Hart was the bad guy at the heart of it all, even though everyone's entitled to their own opinion regarding the whole sordid affair.

Shawn Michaels is a person you can actually sympathise, though. His devastating back injury which lead to the end of his era and a forced early retirement is truly heartbreaking to watch. The fact that his drug problems hadn't gone away either, really makes you feel sorry for him. To hear Shawn tell of his depression, falling out with HHH and impending self-destruction is so frighteningly real. That's when you discover that Shawn really is a good man at heart and it's thankful and heart-warming to relive the tale of his finding religion. His miraculous comeback at SummerSlam 2002 is a moment of true happiness, as his redemption and evolution into a better person had come full circle.

The documentary closes with the most important career moments from his comeback, such as his epic WrestleMania classics with Chris Jericho and John Cena, his program and real-life heat with Hulk Hogan, bizarre feud with Vince McMahon and the rebirth of D-Generation X. Heartbreak and Triumph ends on a high note, too. A once-arrogant yet phenomenally talented man broken down and rebuilt as the same awesome athlete, but also as a man who's changed so much for the better, is the moral of the story. And it's one that is so inspirational, and makes me prouder than ever to be a fan of Shawn Michaels.

Like the main program, none of the special features disappoint. There are some awesome deleted scenes, a hilarious Larry King segment from the Showstopper's feud with Hulk Hogan, his `Tell Me A Lie' music video, a 1994 Heartbreak Hotel segment, some great extra stories and a couple of nice Easter Eggs to boot.

All the extra matches occupy the spaces of discs 2 and 3. And none of the matches on From The Vault are included here, which is excellent as it not only preserves the value of From The Vault, but also allows us to be treated to some of the Heartbreak Kid's other classic matches. These include some awesome Rockers matches, his 1995 Royal Rumble victory, forgotten IC title classics, and godlike half-hour/hour long encounters with the likes of the British Bulldog, Kurt Angle, Triple H and John Cena. Though I really would've loved to have seen his casket match with the Undertaker, his second ladder match with Razor Ramon, his SummerSlam `96 bout against Vader, battles with Sycho Sid and WrestleMania 19 encounter with Chris Jericho, I can't complain. Each match included here is staggeringly high in quality and none of them disappoint.

In closing, Heartbreak and Triumph: The Shawn Michaels Story is truly essential. All fans of HBK will lap it up. Make sure you have a space on your shelves to slide this next to From The Vault. This is not only the perfect compliment to that release, but an excellent addition to your wrestling DVD collection on its own.

WWE - Wrestlemania 12 To 17 [DVD]

WWE - Wrestlemania 12 To 17 [DVD] review

Customer Reviews

18 Hours of Wrestlemania for £404
All in all this boxset of Wrestlemania's 12 - 17 is excellent, almost everything I wanted... just a few small flaws.

Obviously these Wrestlemania's are from the WWF & Attitude era's, this is fine for 12-14 as the old logo is acceptable and doesn't need blurring but Wrestlemania's 15-17 have excessive blurring all over to hide the WWF logo's. This includes ringposts, cameramens T-shirts and titantrons all with an annoying fuzzy patch all the way through. Also, another problem with wrestlemania X-Seven (17) is in the original DVD and live show it had "My Way" By Limp Bizkit as the event theme, in this DVD it is replaced by something else which is nowhere near as good. This new track was put on the promo spots too which were edited to fit and are simply not as good as the original. One last thing, Wrestlemania's 16 & 17 are both 2 discs each, this breaks up the event and stops the flow somewhat as there are some unskippable scenes when you start the discs before you can resume the second disc and carry on watching.

Even so, the events themselves are complete, high quality and come in a very nice 8 disc set. Highly recommended to WWF fans!

Also, about the release date on this site, it simply isn't true. It was released in Mid-December here in the UK and I have it right now, look around on google and you'll find it pretty quickly.

Are You Ready?5
WrestleMania 12- Not much content, good to see how things were back in the day. However, the main event, a 60-minute Iron Man Match between the Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels and Bret "Hit Man" Hart, overshadows the entire event, both in quantity and quality. Perhaps the greatest WrestleMania main event of all time, two icons of the age put it all on the line in a breath-taking match. A definite must-see. Features HBK flying down from the rafters in what is arguably the greatest entrance of all time.

WrestleMania 13- Again, not much of an event here. Bret Hart steals the show yet again with Stone Cold Steve Austin, in a match that made the Rattlesnake what he is today. An okay main event but not anywhere near the quality of 12's and an overall disappointment.

WrestleMania 14- Details the rise of the Austin era. And finally some substance in a WrestleMania! Owen hart vs HHH, The Rock vs Ken Shamrock, Kane vs the Undertaker. The main event, HBK vs Austin, "Iron Man" Mike Tyson as special enforcer. HBK clearly battles through a severe back injury and forces through the pain to put on his final match till 4 years later. A brilliant match with one of the most famous endings in WrestleMania history.

WrestleMania 15- The blurring of the WWF sign features heavily in the event and can become an irritation, an alright event and a pretty good main event between the two icons of the Attitude era, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Some good action and the loss of Vince McMahon as a commentator greatly improves the feel of the event, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler shine through.

WrestleMania 2000- A bit of a novelty WrestleMania, with not a single male singles match. A triangle ladder match with the Hardyz, the Dudleyz and Edge and Christian comes close to stealing the show. However, it is perhaps overshadowed by the main event, a fatal fourway between The Rock, The Big Show, HHH and Mick Foley, but if it weren't for the fact that it was the end of the event it could easily be just another match, slightly disappointing.

WrestleMania X-Seven- An amazing WrestleMania with too many good matches to mention. The TLC 2 match shines out but the final match, Austin vs The Rock, both fan-favourites of the time, is almost defintely the greatest match in Pro Wrestling history. Not in technical terms or Hardcore terms but in shear "Wow" factor. Without a doubt the most shocking ending of any PPV and a breath-taking twist. The loss of "My way" by Limp Bizkit as the event theme slightly detracts from the overall effect but cannot ruin what is undoubtedly a WrestleMania for the ages.

If you are a WWF fan, then you must have this collection, great for the old fans who can see their favourite 'Manias once more and great for new fans who want to see WWF in it's prime. Amazing and highly reccomended.

Locking Dance DVD Or Lessons With a Teacher

As a dance style there are many aspects of locking that are appealing. The big moves, the funkiness, the costumes and a lot more. So if you are a beginner looking to learn locking what choices should you make?

Is it better to learn from a locking dance DVD or by taking lessons with a locking teacher? There are advantages to each method and I aim to highlight these in the coming article.

The big advantage of taking lessons with a teacher is the class environment. When you are in the same room, if you do not understand how something is done or want further clarification or explanations these are possible.

In effect what you have is the chance to have a dialogue, which of course is not possible with a DVD. Also there's something about being in the same room as someone that makes you pay more attention. So if you're the type of person that finds you're easily distracted then you may well find a real life teacher to be beneficial.

You are also going to be working locking techniques and skills for the duration of the class so you know that you will get some practise done. With a DVD that decision lies with you, you don't have anyone holding you accountable.

Now moving onto the choice of learning locking from a tutorial DVD. It is possible that the place where you live may be a town without many locking enthusiasts, and there may not be any teachers nearby to guide you along.

If this is the case then the DVD is another option you have. One advantage of a DVD is that it is relatively fast paced so you will normally learn a lot of material in a disc lasting one hour. This is good if you're a relatively fast learner.

A DVD can work the other way too and be good if you consider yourself to be a slower learner. The fact that you have all the explanations there that you can rewind and forward offers you the ability to expend more time and energy on areas you encounter difficulties in.

It is great to be able to pace your learning at a tempo that is just right for you, and you can also use your practise time more effectively this way.

Furthermore when it comes to practise, with a real life lesson you will have to remember a lot of the moves as you head off home. With a DVD the moves will be there and easy to reference should you ever need reminding of how to do one.

So there you have it, a guide to the advantages of a DVD and of real life lessons so you can make a wise decision based on your personal learning preferences. It should be noted that even if you decide to go the route of the DVD and it is the cheaper option for you, at some point you should try and get into a real life lesson.

Certain things you may well find you get a much better understanding of when learning in person. You have two ways of learning that can support each other when used smartly.
